To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II as our monarch, we celebrated by hosting a house competition to create a pudding fit for the Queen.
Each house team were given £10 to purchase the ingredients to create their pudding. They needed to plan, create a recipe and produce receipts for the judges, and finally create the pudding in 80 minutes.
Each house team was made up of 2 students and 1 member of staff.
St Anne Line created a spectacular Victoria sponge, with platinum flags. Mrs Hogarth commented during judging that it cut lovely and took joint 3rd position.
Blessed John Ingram had amazing design drawings of their iced 2 tier sponge with fondant flowers, Mrs Savage was highly impressed during judging at the efforts of the chocolate 70 on the top and the creation which had been made in such a short period of time and took joint 3rd place.
St Thomas More also went for the traditional Victoria sponge and took 2nd place. Patriotic judge Mrs Ryder was a fan of the fruit Union Jack on the top of the cake. It was an excellent creation and very tasty!
The winning team of the Pudding fit for a Queen House Competition was St John Boste.
Jack and Harlyn had created a Jubilee Mess. Their presentation, flavour and side portion of biscuits were definitely a highlight for judges Mrs Crawshaw and Mr Dunn. Who enjoyed dunking the biscuits into the Jubilee Mess. The boys were ecstatic at their achievement.
Well done to all students and staff who contributed to the competition! Here’s a selection of images from the event.
