Young people from The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College support anti bullying with The Diana Award
Before the summer, students of all ages took part anti-bullying training session run by The Diana Award at Trinity Catholic College, Middlesbrough.
They worked together and acquired vital skills to enable them to change the attitudes and behaviours that can lead to bullying.
The Diana Award’s Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme provides highly skilled trainers to work with students to change the attitude surrounding bullying.
The programme has a strong peer-to-peer focus, with trainers giving young people the skills and confidence to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors to tackle bullying long after the training has finished. The Diana Award’s anti-bullying work is recognised as world-class thanks to this sustainable approach.
The training looked at bullying in different situations including face-to-face and online.
Our students pledged to campaign against bullying behaviours that may arise and committed to their roles as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.
This term, we will ensure all Anti-Bullying volunteers are trained to campaign against bullying behaviour and hold an award ceremony to reward ambassadors with their badges.
Commenting on the training, Mr McLintock said, “Students listened and participated in all training activities throughout the day and showed great maturity when discussing sensitive topics. I am extremely proud of their passion and am confident that they will play a huge part in promoting our values and ethos of respect and kindness'
