Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know the National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 28th February 2023.

The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government and not because of any issues at our school or with the Bishop Hogarth Trust.

I’m getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible about our arrangements for Tuesday 28th February 2023 as we will, unfortunately, be closed to some year groups.

The decision to partially close is never taken lightly but in this instance a significant number of staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, therefore, we have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all our students and staff.

Which year groups will be able to attend school:
We are remaining open for Year 11 and for Year 12 and 13. Students in these examination year groups should attend school as normal.

Students who are vulnerable or in care will also be able to attend. School will send an app message with details to carers. Please download the app to ensure you get this communication. If you have any issues please contact Mrs Corcoran (rcorcoran@ems.bhcet.org.uk)

School is closed to:
Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. Students in these year groups can access work on TEAMS.

Catering arrangements and transport
Catering facilities will operate as normal for students who are in school. Students who receive Free School Meals will be able to collect a packed lunch to take home with them on Monday 27th. School transport will operate as normal.

After School Clubs
Any after school clubs or planned trips will be cancelled on this day.

Future planned strike days
We will share information regarding the following strike dates as soon as we can:

15th/16th March

We will continue to update you with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further. This is out of our control and we appreciate your support.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Crawshaw
Headteacher
