Dear Parents/Carers,
As part of the ongoing support programme that we offer to our students we are planning to take our year 12 students to the university open days at Newcastle and Northumbria on Friday 28th June. This day will provide our students with the opportunity to attend sessions at Newcastle and/or Northumbria University, allowing them to meet current undergraduates and academic staff. They will be accompanied by Mrs Edmundson, Mrs Rackstraw and Mrs Russell.
We have asked students to sign up to the open days – they have the links to do this on the year 12 careers teams page.
We will provide transport free of charge. Students will need to bring their own lunch or money to purchase food. We will leave college at 9am and the coach will depart from Newcastle at 1.45pm. If your son/daughter wishes to stay in Newcastle later than 1.45pm they are free to do so with your permission. We appreciate that not everyone will want to apply to these universities. However, by ensuring that our students are given the opportunity to attend at least one univeristy open day then they will be able to make a truly informed decision regarding their next steps.
Students have been made aware that we will be monitoring their attendance closely in the run up to the open days and any student who falls below expected levels of attendance without a genuine reason will be unable to attend the trip. They will be expected to remain in college to catch up on any work that they have missed.
