Dear Parent/Carer,
To ensure all students maximise the remaining weeks in college and fulfil their own ambitions and the high expectations we have for them, I am sharing some key information with you.
Lessons
Lessons will run as per your child’s normal college timetable and students are expected to attend lessons until they have completed the last examination in that subject.
Revision sessions
There will be a range of revision sessions available for students in May half term. Your child should speak to their subject teacher for further details.
Independent Study
Examinations for Year 13 will be taking place in the study area in the 6th form building. During the exam period there will be free rooms available for students for silent work and revision. As normal, the common room will be open for all students.
The 6th form study area will be available at the end of each day if students wish to make use of it when exams are not taking place.
Support
A-level examinations bring with them lots of different emotions which vary from student to student. We recognise that this can be a challenging time for students and families for many reasons, and we want to support students in terms of their mental and emotional health by offering and reminding you about the following additional opportunities:
Togertherall: This an online wellbeing tool which students aged 16+ can access anonymously and for free https://togetherall.com/en-gb/
Examinations
Students must meet in the foyer outside the study area 15 minutes before the beginning if each exam. Morning exams start at 9am, afternoon exams at 1pm. No electrical devices or watches are permitted in the exam room and students must wear their college lanyard as a form of identification when they sit the exam. Students may take a bottle of water in the exam room but this must be aclear plastic bottle with all labels removed.
Please be aware that failure to attend an exam may result in a fee. If you have concerns, please contact me; lhenderson@ems.bhcet.org.uk or Mrs Edmundson; cedmundson@ems.bhcet.org.uk
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. L. Henderson
Head of 6th Form.
